More Bobbies on the Beat.

Residents across the county tell me that they don’t see enough police officers anymore. Yes, Police officer numbers are at their highest in a generation, but much of their time is taken up fighting crime and catching criminals meaning there is less time for them to be walking their beats along the streets of our towns.

I have no doubt that communities want and need a regular police presence that can provide reassurance, gather intelligence, and disrupt crime.

I will ensure a positive relationship between local communities and the police force, break down any existing barriers, rebuild trust and confidence where there may have been historical issues, and I will engage with residents to help us invest in community projects that tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
